Diabetes is disability of producing a hormone called insulin. It is a chronic disease.  Insulin is produce by pancreas.  if the pancreas is unable to produce insulin or human body turn into resistant to insulin, glucose level of blood become high.  Because in absence of insulin glucose cannot be convert to energy in blood. It is called diabetes.

Glucose is the major source of energy for the body. After eating food, most of the food broken down into glucose.  When digestion completed glucose pass into blood then insulin convert glucose to energy. The pancreas of diabetes affected people produce little or the cells don’t respond to the insulin which was produce. That’s why glucose overflows as well as passes out from the body by urine.

Symptoms of Diabates

The following is the signs of diabetes :

  • Gestational diabetes (GDM)

Type 1 diabetes: It is called juvenile-onset diabetes. Because Most of the people who does not reaches the age of 30 is affected by this type of diabetes. It is an autoimmune disease.

Generally it’s caused by auto-immune reaction where the body’s resistance system attacks the cells which generate insulin. The reason of this occurrence is not understood fully.

The patient affected by this type of diabetes produce no insulin or very little insulin. They are need insulin by injection.

The patient affected by this type of diabetes has a tendency to have a higher risk of affecting following autoimmune diseases:

  1. Coeliac disease
  2. Rheumatoid arthritis
  3. Addisons disease
  4. Autoimmune thyroid disease

Type 2 diabetes: If  body cannot use the insulin which  it produce is called  Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes to be called non-insulin reliant diabetes. About 90% diabetes patient are affected by type 2 diabetes. about 80% diabetes patient with type 2 diabetes are overweight. type 2 diabetes can crop up at any age.

patient with type 1 diabetes, the pancreas doesn’t produce insulin but patient with type 2 diabetes make insulin but cannot make enough insulin or their  body cannot use the insulin. If body cannot use the insulin is called insulin resistance.

Gestational diabetes (GDM): This type to diabetes occurred at the time of pregnancy (gestation). it caused because of more production of hormones which make  body to unable to use insulin. Generally this type of diabetes cure after birth of the baby. But it make higher risk of affecting  type 2 diabetes later. 50% patient with a history of Gestational diabetes affect  type 2 diabetes within 5(five) to 10(ten) years after the delivery.

Diabetes induced by Surgery: Pancreas surgery may destroy of ability of insulin production.if this happen we called it Diabetes induced by Surgery. It can be permanent or temporary.
Chemically induced diabetes
Sometimes glucose level of blood higher because of taking some medicine like steroids specifically prednisone or cortisone.

Why we need to take care of our diabetes?  because of the following reason:

If anybody do not control diabetes. It may lead to serious problems with his kidneys, eyes, nerves, and heart. Specially seriously caused by it is heart disease. If anybody has diabetes, the risk of heart attack is double. Anybody can reduce his heart attack risk by controlling diabetes.

Target Levels
by Type Before meals
(pre prandial) 2 hours after meals
(post prandial) Non-diabetic 4.0 to 5.9 mmol/L under 7.8 mmol/L Type 2 diabetes 4 to 7 mmol/L under 8.5 mmol/L Type 1 diabetes 4 to 7 mmol/L under 9 mmol/L Children w/ type 1 diabetes 4 to 8 mmol/L under 10 mmol/L
